Gerson Diet

The Gerson diet is a part of the Gerson Therapy combining nutrition with other therapies.

What is Gerson Therapy?

Gerson Therapy uses organic foods, juicing, coffee enemas, detoxification, natural supplements, and other natural approaches. The program includes almost 20 pounds of organically grown fruits and vegetables daily, and most of which is used to make fresh raw juice, one glass every hour, 13 times per day. Solid foods are also a part of the program. Supplements include potassium, Vitamin B-12, thyroid hormone, pancreatic enzymes, and others.

What are the potential benefits of Gerson Therapy?

According to the Gerson Institute, the Gerson Therapy is designed to support the immune system and stimulate the body's natural healing capacity to treat and cure chronic debilitating illness. Degenerative diseases render the body increasingly unable to excrete waste materials adequately, commonly resulting in liver and kidney failure. To prevent this, the Gerson Therapy uses intensive detoxification to eliminate wastes, regenerate the liver, reactivate the immune system and restore the body's essential defenses—enzyme, mineral, and hormone systems. The Gerson Therapy philosophy is that with generous, high-quality nutrition, increased oxygen availability, detoxification, and improved metabolism, the cells and the body support optimal health.

The Gerson Therapy has been promoted and used against cancer. Published case studies show benefits from the Gerson Therapy in people with cancer.

What is the history of Gerson Therapy?

The Gerson Therapy was developed by Max Gerson, MD in the 1920s. His daughter, Charlotte Gerson, continues to advance her father's work.
