Chi Gong, Tai Chi and Cancer

What are chi gong and tai chi?

Chi gong and tai chi integrate slow moving physical postures, stretching, breathing techniques, and mental focus. These ancient practices feature movement with flow from one form to another. The postures appear simple and yet are extremely precise. The postures and movements have been compared with that of animals.

Chi gong is compromised of two Chinese words. Chi means life force or vital energy. Gong means accomplishment or skill that is cultivated through steady progress. Therefore, chi gong means cultivating and refining your life force through diligent practice.

Tai chi has been translated in various ways such as internal martial art and supreme ultimate fist.

Chi gong is considered the more ancient movement system of the two and many of its teachings are incorporated within tai chi.

What are the potential benefits of chi gong and tai chi?

The practice of chi gong and tai chi helps to circulate energy through channels in the body called meridians also used in acupuncture.
